How to Land a Job in Style!

Even though, you don’t need to ramp walk to reach the interview chair, but a little style in your professionalism will go a long way!

I know, you have already impressed the organization with an amazing resume. You have done everything possible to prove your worth for the designation. Now let us stress on a little bit out of your skills and knowledge. Any wild guess what I am talking about?

Yes, I am talking about your appearance, dressing, makeup, hair do. Are you up-to-the mark?  Always remember, on an interview spot even a little bit of anything can bring down your score digits.

Learn few basics about dressing up for an interview:

Don’t compromise on a good night sleep. Wake up on the D-day with a fresh mind as well as a body. A fresh and sparkling shining face manages to drag all the attention towards it.

Girls, choose conventional long-sleeved shirt/blouse in white or pastel shades. Suits, blazer and formal pants, jackets and skirts are the great choices to wear for an interview. When it comes to skirts, go for a length that hits right above or below the knees. Wear shoes which have conventional heels. Fingernails should be clean and trimmed with light shades of nail-paints. Makeup should be kept subtle and neutral.  Avoid darker shades of cosmetics for lipsticks and eye shadows. Wear a thin dark-color headband, pin your hair up and tie a ponytail.

Guys, pick up a conventional two-piece business suit preferably in dark neutral colors including black, navy blues or greys. Compliment it with a silk necktie in conservative pattern and clean polished conventional shoes preferably in black. Apart from few conservative colors, feel free to pick up few solid shades of shirts which can go well with any formal or semi-formal bottom wear. Avoid bulging pockets by keeping bare minimum items into them. Keep hair short and neat.

Keep accessories simple, let us say, do not decorate yourself with facial piercing. Maintain the decorum of the workplace.

Your job interview starts the moment you enter the door! Practice walking into a room! Learn how first impressions work and prepare everything which leaves a good impression. Maintain punctuality! Groom yourself well. Pay attention to your body language. Be confident!

A Real Case Study on an Overall Make-over via Image Management!

It can’t be denied that respect is earned through respecting not only others but most importantly oneself. Surprising yet true, today being presentable holds equal importance as one’s educational, financial or even professional capabilities.

Few months back in a formal gathering, I met a lady who was HR head of a manufacturing company in Delhi. She looked quite upset, despite her high profile job. On query she shared her story.

Owing to the nature of her job, she hardly used to get time to dedicate to herself. Being mother of two young sons; she also had to take care of the home front. Her family and career commitment, however, started affecting other aspects of her life and it was her appearance. Though she was pretty, but the busy schedule and self-negligence left her with a shabby and dull look. Soon, she realized that not only her team at work place, but also her husband and sons stopped giving her the respect and attention she deserved.  She understood all these time it did matter how others perceived her. Loosing morale was natural. Her job too suffered due to this.

I extended my services to bring a transformation in her life. In next few days she kept coming for my sessions. I taught her how to practice self-grooming and dressing neatly. It shows that you respect this aspect of your personality. She had forgotten to smile all these while, but under me she realized how a good smile reflects that you love your own company and others’ too. Her strong communication skills backed her hearty smile. We worked on her body language as well, which has otherwise turned very discouraging. Soon she replaced it with positive vibes. I must admit she was a quick learner!

In just next three months, she received award of most popular HR Head in her company. Even her family is surprised to discover this new person. I am extremely glad to help her bring this positive change in her. It is an absolute encouragement to me too.

Bottom line is, one must learn to respect self to be respected by others!

Mentoring the Hair Color Sense!!

Often you might have groomed yourself with branded clothes, costly cosmetics; yet you feel that something is still missing. Wondering what it is? Well it is probably your hair color. If you can play with colors when it comes to your clothes, lipstick or nail polish. Then why to deprive your hair from the magic of colors?

Image consultancy stresses a lot on chromo-therapy; as scientifically it is proven that a strong color sense can work as a mood as well as a personality enhancer.

No matter what your hair color is, there is always a scope for recoloring them with different radiant shades. My therapy on hair color sense works like “Midas” touch; turning a dull looking hair into a jazzy one.  Today, one can choose from an array of hair colors including black, brown, fuchsia, blonde, brunette, purple, blue, hot pink and fiery reds.  My services to work on one’s hair color sense depends on skin tone, age factor, profession, hair quality etc. Beauty experts associated with my Image Management Company Exquisite, ensure that, my clients leave with striking locks which adding that extra glamour!

Apart from hair coloring, I recommend hair highlighting as well. Highlights not only add volume to your hair but also make it attractive. For example: if you have dark hair go for lighter shade of highlights. The scope of highlighting colors differs based on age and profession.  Let’s say, youngsters and the people related to fashion or entertainment can experiment more with glitzy colors whereas it becomes restricted to white collar employees.

This season, release the fashion rebel within you and let it dare with colors. Dip dyed ends, full head coloring or streaks, now the choice is yours as the options are endless!

A Real Case Study of Re-Building Self-Esteem

In our society, the stigma thrown at a divorcee can even kill the person pushing him or her to severe depression. If it is a woman, then there is no end to her misery. Although she might be victim, but people sentence her to social outcast making her feel as if she is the culprit.

Recently, I met a young woman who got divorced a year back and presently residing alone with her mom.  While divorce itself is a traumatized process, she shared her biggest challenge post-divorce was her lost self-esteem.  It is natural that when things in life fall apart; you feel as if it was you who was at fault, there is something lacking in you, as if you are unwanted. To further fuel such damaging emotions and thoughts; blames of her relatives and acquaintances were working like slow poison on her.

Day by day she was losing confidence, she stopped going out or even meeting people. She built a cocoon around her. This however started taking toll on her professional life as well.

Her best friend referred her Exquisite, my Image Management Company.  It took me some time to make her open up and share the things she loves to do. I educated her to have a positive affirmation about her life.

My focus was more on counseling her to let go of the past and start loving herself. Professionally she was brilliant, so I made her acknowledge her strengths.  This helped her to rebuild her lost self-confidence

She learnt how to deal with people and their upsetting remarks, with much grit. I guided her how to work with denial and acceptance, avoid escape routes and most important to express her feelings.

It just a matter of couple of months, she is a new person now.  Today she laughs her heart out, goes out and meets people, makes new friends and shines professionally too. She is a friend for life now.

Work on yourself to get back your lost self-esteem. Your inner strengths can make you champion overcoming all odds!

Mother Tongue Influence and Public Speaking

Few are born leaders, while the other few need to be groomed to become one. The social background and the ambiance one is raised-up in, have lot of impacts on the individual’s behavior, confidence, and outlook too. Despite having strong professional skills, the soft skills can make or break one’s image.
I could prove it well with my latest client who is a promoter of a company. Well, there was no doubt about his business acumen. His vision was quite clear and his plans for the growth and expansion his company were equally impressive.
However, this young man hailed from an lower economic class and with his hard work and efforts could reach to this stature, lacked some other aspects which hold importance, especially when one needs to present oneself on a public platform. Those were his dressing sense, gestures and communication skills.
I started with his wardrobe management and gave him right dressing guidance.  We replaced his old collection of clothes with formal ones, which gave him an instant makeover. I guided him to choose the correct shoes and accessories too. Now it was term for grooming. Since he has to deal with lot of corporate people, I brushed up his etiquette on dining, greeting and even handshaking.
However the most challenging was to remove his mother tongue influence from his spoken English. I had to take quite a number of sessions and finally his linguistic skills saw remarkable transformation. This helped him to overcome the fear of public speaking and now he speaks of his company in meets and seminars, quite impressively.
These small changes brought big benefits to him and his company.
If you want to be a winner like him, a small step towards me seeking my assistance, can bring you closer to your dream position!

Positive Affirmation

Positive attitude is one of the vital parts of building anyone’s image. Positive attitude can only be developed through proper positive affirmation. This is a way of living can be adapted only over a period of time with regular practice.

Being a professional image consultant, I myself believe that success is achievable through right channeling of feel good feelings within you. An on-going process of self-analysis, self-praising and self-loving can cure most of the problem related to our outer appearance.

Ever since our childhood, we have been taught to love and respect others. However, with my consultancy sessions on positive affirmation, I lay emphasis on learning to love oneself. I believe you are incapable of loving others till the time you do not know how to love yourself. It is like trying to save someone else from drowning when you yourself don't know how to swim.

When you learn to treat yourselves kindly, you learn to soften and open yourselves to all kinds of experiences, including your own emotions. With positive affirmation, your level of acceptance increases. You start to understand, making a mistake is not the end of the world. Eventually, you try to make amends, instead of hideaway in shame.

To start with, I suggest, say hello to yourself every morning. It is a new morning with new opportunities. Praise yourself for the things you have done by staring at you in the mirror. For example you might say: “I am so proud of you for going to yoga classes when you did not feel like going.” I strongly advise, rather than jumping straight out of bed, spend 5 to 10 minutes to meditate. Observe the little pause between each inhale and exhale process. This will allow you to create a sense of peace within and help to get you into a good head space before your feet touch the ground.

By observing your self-talk and keeping the ‘Inner Critic’ in check, you will learn to perform self-love workout! Let your positive affirmation do wonders for you.
